Diclofenac 1% Gel, sold under the brand name Voltaren, is a topical nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) applied directly to the skin. It is used to relieve pain from osteoarthritis in joints amenable to topical treatment, such as the knees, ankles, feet, hands, wrists, and elbows. Because it works at the site of application, it delivers less medication into the bloodstream than oral NSAIDs.

Diclofenac 1% Gel FAQ
Do I need a prescription for Diclofenac 1% Gel?
Yes, this product is dispensed as a prescription medication. A valid prescription from a licensed provider is required, and our pharmacy team verifies every order before it is filled.
What is Diclofenac 1% Gel used for?
Diclofenac 1% Gel is a topical NSAID used to relieve osteoarthritis pain in joints amenable to topical treatment, such as the knees, hands, wrists, ankles, feet, and elbows. It is applied to the skin over the affected joint to reduce pain and inflammation locally.
How do I apply Diclofenac 1% Gel?
Use the dosing card supplied with the product to measure the gel: 4 g for lower-extremity joints and 2 g for upper-extremity joints, applied 4 times daily. Rub it gently into the skin over the affected joint and wash your hands afterward unless treating the hands.
Is Diclofenac 1% Gel safer than oral NSAIDs?
Because it is applied to the skin, less diclofenac reaches the bloodstream compared with oral NSAID tablets. However, it carries the same NSAID class warnings, including cardiovascular and gastrointestinal risks, so follow your provider's directions and do not exceed the labeled dose.
Can I use Diclofenac 1% Gel with other pain medications?
Avoid using it together with oral NSAIDs (such as ibuprofen or naproxen) or aspirin unless your provider directs otherwise, as this can increase side effect risks. Tell your pharmacist about all medications you take, including blood thinners.
How does ordering and shipping work?
After your prescription is received and reviewed by our licensed pharmacy team, your order is prepared and shipped from a U.S. pharmacy. You will receive tracking information once your medication is on its way, and our pharmacists are available to answer questions.
