Lidocaine 2% Viscous Solution
A topical local anesthetic solution for mouth sores, sore throat pain, and irritation of the mouth and pharynx
What Lidocaine 2% Viscous Solution Treats
What is Lidocaine 2% Viscous Solution?
Lidocaine 2% Viscous Solution is a thick, liquid form of lidocaine, a local anesthetic, designed to coat and numb the tissues of the mouth and throat. It is prescribed to ease pain from irritated or inflamed mucous membranes, including conditions such as mouth ulcers and painful sore throat. It may also be used before certain dental or endoscopic procedures to reduce discomfort and suppress the gag reflex. Because it is absorbed through mucous membranes, it must be used exactly as directed to avoid taking in too much medication.
What it treats
- Pain from irritated or inflamed oral mucous membranes
- Mouth sores and oral ulcer pain
- Sore throat (pharyngeal) pain
- Pain relief before dental procedures
- Suppression of the gag reflex during procedures
- Discomfort from oral mucositis (as directed by a prescriber)
